Woke up this morning and the first thing we did was to assemble our bikes to make sure everything is still working like it should. We then went to do some sightseeing around the old town. All the Muslims live in the old town and the Chinese live in the newer areas. They also don't seem to mix much. Almost like black and white people in South Africa. The old town is completely different from the rest of China. If you get put there and someone must ask you where you are you will think that you are in a very poor part of Iran or Uzbekistan.
While walking around a guy called us into his restaurant and we ate kebabs and bread. He let us take pictures of his shop and the meat hanging outside. We then went to Idahk mosque which was a huge disappointment. and a waste of time and money. Walking around the old town and Muslim living area is way more interesting. They have shops here that sell dog skins which would be interesting to have in your house but we don’t have any space for something like that.
We also checked out the huge Mao statue in the center of town and organized benzene for our stove. We had to make two trips for the benzene because the first time they sold us diesel. Tomorrow the real fun starts.
